Oh man, where to begin!?
The game has great character customization for an RPG of it’s kind, giving you a plethora of options to make your character exactly as you want them to be.
The writing is the quality we’ve come to expect out of Larian. Every character is interesting and will make you want to actively talk with then to learn more about them, and the banter of NPCs makes the world truly feel alive.
Graphically, the game looks beautiful. Faerun has finally been given the love and treatment it so deserves, feeling more vibrant and colorful than ever before. From the lush forests to the murky swamps and the foreboding Underdark, you’ll be perfectly immersed wherever you are.
Gameplay is likewise what we’ve come to expect from Larian, albeit with many improvements and tweaks to make it actually feel like D&D, including dice rolling. And yes, you CAN customize how the dice look. This is as pure of a D&D experience as you can get without playing the actual Tabletop RPG.
The music in this game is pure ear candy. Equally as immersive as the graphics, if not more so, it perfectly sets whatever mood it aims to set. I really can’t find a single negative here.
Overall, BG3 is a STRONG contender for GOTY. In my opinion, the best release of 2023, hands down.
